Xishan National Forest Park, located in Xihu District, is Hangzhou's largest green space. Covering an area of 1,775 hectares with 93.4% forest coverage, this natural paradise is divided into three main areas: Longwu, Daqinggu, and Lingshan, offering a haven of fresh air just 10 kilometers from the city center.
Within the park are authentic natural treasures. Ruyi Peak, at 537 meters, is the highest in Hangzhou and offers spectacular views of the Qiantang River. The 50-meter White Dragon Waterfall is the only natural waterfall in the city, while Lingshan Cave is home to the only karst landscape in the metropolitan area.
The park is crossed by the 108-kilometer Xishan Mountain Trail, the longest hiking route in China. This trail connects ancient tea-producing villages, such as Longwu, the birthplace of Longjing tea, and allows visitors to immerse themselves in landscapes of green terraces, bamboo forests, and crystal-clear streams.
The cultural richness completes the experience. Historical figures such as Su Dongpo left inscriptions on its rocks, and the famous merchant Hu Xueyan has his tomb here. With free admission and multiple access points from local villages, Xishan is the ideal destination for breathing in nature without straying far from Hangzhou.
